For Job Applicants & Students:

If you are trying to take a language assessment as part of a program or organization (such as a student for a language program, or a job seeker for an application) you should receive a link to take the assessment from the organization that requires the assessment.

Taking an assessment directly from Emmersion will not count and the score will not be provided to the organization.

In most cases, you will receive a link in your email inviting you to register for and complete your assessment(s). Please only use the link provided to you. If you take an assessment without the correct link, your results will not be provided to the appropriate student admissions or hiring team.

Preparing to Take an Assessment:

Preparation:

  • Each assessment is given online and take about 10-15 minutes to complete

  • You’ll need:

Speaking Assessment:

The Speaking assessment has three parts:

  1. A microphone check to ensure the audio is being captured correctly

  2. Listen and Repeat section

    1. This section will have you listen to a series of prompts and record yourself repeating those prompts.

  1. Open Response section

    1. This section is your opportunity to respond to a prompt in a longer format. You’ll be given three prompts to think about, and then up to 60 seconds to record a response to the prompt.

Writing, Reading & Grammar:

The Emmersion Writing and Reading & Grammar assessments are fully adaptive tests that will measure vocabulary, grammar and reading skills through a series of multiple choice and fill in the blank questions. The Writing assessments have an Open Response writing component as well.
